SiriusXM Expands Used-Car Efforts

NEW YORK –

SiriusXM expanded its efforts to get
used-car buyers to activate their factory satellite radio.

The satellite broadcaster announced that participating
Nissan and Infiniti dealers will be able to offer a
free three-month trial subscription to consumers who
buy any used vehicle from the dealers’ lots, not just
Nissan or Infiniti vehicles.

SiriusXM launched a similar program in June with
participating GM dealers.

The broadcaster also offers trial subscriptions to
consumers who buy certified pre-owned vehicles from
such automakers as BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen.

On the OEM side, the company announced that
Subaru is expanding satellite-radio availability to all
of its 2012 models and that the automaker is making
SiriusXM standard equipment in all 2012 Legacy and
Outback Limited models.

In addition, Subaru is making satellite radio standard
equipment on the 2012 Impreza and Forester models
equipped with a new factory navigation system, which
will also feature SiriusXM NavTraffic service.

Consumers buying an Impreza or Forester with the
navigation system get a free four-month trial subscription
to SiriusXM satellite radio and NavTraffic services,
the broadcaster added.
