Sinofsky Out At Microsoft

Redmond, Wash. – Top Microsoft Windows Live exec Steven Sinofsky has left the company and will be replaced by Julie Larson-Green, effective immediately.

Sinofsky leaves the company just weeks after the launch of Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and the Surface tablet, products he helped shepherd through development.

Larson-Green, who joined Microsoft in 1993, held the post of program management VP for Windows, where she worked developing the user interface experiences for Windows 7 and 8.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said he was grateful to Sinofsky for his efforts, adding, “To continue this success it is imperative that we continue to drive alignment across all Microsoft teams, and have more integrated and rapid development cycles for our offerings.”

Larson-Green’s duties have been handed to chief financial officer/chief marketing officer Tami Reller, who will handle the business end of Windows development, the company said.
