Sharp Labs Appoints New CEO

Camas, Wash. – Dr. D. Laurence Meixner has been named president
and CEO of

Sharp Laboratories of America

,
(SLA).

Meixner is responsible for all of Sharp’s U.S.-based R&D
initiatives, and will lead efforts supporting four of Sharp’s core
disciplines:  consumer systems and technology;
digital imaging systems; advanced video and display technology; and material
and device applications.

Founded in 1995, SLA focus areas include mobile communications, Internet
connectivity, enterprise print/copy systems, digital imaging, LCD video and
display, electronic medical and wellness systems, solar energy, and novel
materials and device technologies.

 Prior to joining Sharp Laboratories,
Meixner was VP of Teledyne Scientific & Imaging, formerly the Rockwell
Science Center.  In that capacity, he
headed a multi-disciplinary R&D organization in the areas of information
sciences, optics and materials.

Previously, he was director of R&D for YTC America, the
U.S.-based R&D organization for Yazaki Corporation of Japan. At YTC
America, he was responsible for overall strategy and project development with
Yazaki business units and R&D labs in Japan.

 Meixner holds a doctorate
from Stanford University in physical chemistry with a minor in electrical engineering.  He completed his Bachelor of Science at
Caltech, and also holds a certificate in general management from the UCLA
Anderson School of Management.
