Mahwah, N.J. — Sharp Electronics announced the appointment of Daisuke (Doug) Koshima to chairman and CEO on Wednesday. The appointment is effective April 1.
Koshima replaces Toshihiko Fujimoto, who will be transferring to a new assignment as general manager for strategic planning with the international business group of Sharp Corporation, Japan.
According to a release from the company, Koshima has spent 37 years with Sharp Corporation, most recently as corporate director and group general manager of the international business group. Prior to that he served as a senior executive VP in the consumer electronics group at Sharp Electronics Corporation (U.S.), from 1996 until 2001. He has also held positions as managing director of Sharp Electronics (U.K.) Ltd. and president of Sharp Electronics of Canada Ltd.
As chairman and CEO Koshima will oversee overall direction, management and administration of all corporate operations for the company’s various divisions, and will be responsible for the strategic vision for the company, said the company.
Sharp Electronics Corporation is the U.S. sales and marketing subsidiary of Sharp Corporation, Osaka, Japan.
