Sensio Licenses 3-D Solution To ArcSoft

Montreal – Sensio Technologies TSX Venture Exchange, inventor of the Sensio 3-D technology, said it has licensed its S3D decoder product to multimedia software provider ArcSoft.

The S3D decoder, also known as the “Sensio Stereoscopic Software Decoder,” is a software version of the Sensio 3D decoder sold for many years in the consumer electronics market.

ArcSoft will integrate S3D into its ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre media player to enable users to watch 3-D movies from Blu-ray Discs or DVDs on a computer with a 2-D or 3-D screen.

“Our market analysis leads us to believe that the entry of 3-D on the consumer market will also take the PC route and we wanted to meet the demand by developing as a priority a simple and inexpensive solution that will allow the consumers to watch 3-D movies at home,” stated Nicholas Routhier, Sensio president and CEO.

“This S3D software solution uses only the central run unit resources and is therefore not connected to any particular graphic card, making it easier for PC users to enjoy 3-D through TotalMedia Theatre,” said George Tang, ArcSoft Video and Home Entertainment Group VP and general manager.
