SED To Distribute Panasonic Microwave Ovens

Tucker, Ga.
SED International has added appliances
to its assortment through a distribution deal with Panasonic Appliance Group,
which makes counter-top and over-the-range microwave ovens.

SED, a
multinational supply chain management provider and distributor of computer,
wireless and other CE products, has formed a new business unit to manage the
Panasonic line, which also includes other countertop appliances. Shipments are
expected to begin Sept. 1.

SED is also
in discussion with other manufacturers of kitchen electrics and small appliances,
and expects to rapidly expand its offerings within those categories, the
company said.

According
to Tom Roper, SED’s CE and small appliance purchasing VP, the line card
expansion represents “another important growth opportunity for our customers to
expand their offerings to better meet their respective customers’ needs and
demands.”

SED’s
6,000-plus customers include independent dealers, resellers, buying groups and
e-commerce companies, and the new appliance unit will allow the distributor to
“reach and support an ever larger universe of dealers and resellers,” he said.

Small appliances
purchasing manager Sandy Hanberry added that SED has created “many special
discount programs, purchasing incentives and flexible financing plans … to help
ensure a strong and successful launch.”
