Sears Offers Instant Majap Rebates In California

Hoffman Estates, Ill. — Sears is providing its California customers with utility-sponsored instant rebates on high-efficiency appliances through a partnership with EcoRebates.

Online shoppers can receive an average of $50 in instant rebate savings on Energy Star-qualified refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, A/Cs, water heaters and other large appliances.

Participating utilities include Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), Southern California Edison (SCE) and Southern California Gas (SoCalGas).

The rebates are deployed by EcoRebates, a California company that provides SKU- and location-specific incentive offers online for retailers, manufacturers and utilities.

Under the program, customers in qualifying locations will automatically see instant rebate offers on appliance products as they browse product information on the websites. Customers can simply place the product in the shopping cart and proceed with the transaction to immediately receive the rebate discount, without entering codes or mailing in forms.

Sears said it is the first major full-line retailer to integrate paperless rebate fulfillment into its e-commerce platform.

“Enabling online instant rebates for energy-efficient appliances is just another way Sears is committed to providing customers a highly personalized shopping experience,” said Imran Jooma, executive VP and president of online, marketing, pricing and financial services for Sears Holdings.

“Customers care about reducing their energy consumption, but are also looking to take advantage of all savings opportunities. Now, thanks to our collaboration with progressive utilities, and our technology service provider  EcoRebates, [loyalty program] members and customers can purchase from among our many high-efficiency appliance models and receive immediate savings made available from their local utility program.”
