Chatsworth, Calif. — Sanyo will ship a new waterproof camcorder to dealers this month.
The $399 Xacti E2 records standard-definition footage using the H.264 codec. It is waterproof up to 5 feet for one hour.
The E3 can record movies at 60 fps and snap 8-megapixel still images, and it features a 2.5-inch flip-out LCD, face detection for both video and stills, and a 5x optical zoom.
The camcorder also incorporates digital stabilization, underwater shooting modes, and a 5 fps photo burst mode up to 10 2-megapixel stills.
The camcorder will be bundled with Adobe’s Premiere Elements 4.0 video-editing software and will sold in blue or white.
