Sangean Intros New HD-Radio Tuner

Los Angeles — Sangean America will ship this month a new deluxe version of its current HD-Radio home component tuner.

The HDT-1X adds features including a Sony/Phillips Digital Interface Format (S/PDIF) optical output, with 100 percent digital, virtually lossless, signal transmission. It also has an analog mode that helps to better lock in HD-Radio signals in fringe areas of reception. Another new feature is Split-audio model that offers digital audio in one channel and analog audio in another to let users hear the difference.

Sangean said the new features are the result of consumer feedback.

The HDT-1X uses the same display and enclosure as the current HDT-1. It will be available through CBS-affiliate radio stations, custom audio providers, as well as online and through select national retailers at a suggested retail of $249.
