Samsung’s Weedfald Named

Ridgefield Park, N.J. – Samsung Electronics America (SEA) has named Peter Weedfald senior vice president/strategic marketing.

Weedfald, who joined the company as marketing communications and new media vice president in October 2001, leads all strategic branding and marketing directions for all Samsung operations and Samsung North American affiliates.

In a prepared statement SEA said Weedfald will continue ‘to build on Samsung’s successful North American e-Commerce and Interactive Media initiatives.’

Among the programs started by Weedfald include a major national North American advertising and branding campaign launched in 2002 and a national 24/7 interactive network of 375 top-rated websites, which generates 700 million impressions a month. He also established Samsung’s Four Season’s of Hope, a corporate goodwill campaign that teams four of the country’s top athletes (Magic Johnson, Arnold Palmer, Joe Torre and Boomer Esiason) with for leading retailers (Best Buy, CompUSA, Sears, and RadioShack) to raise funds for four charities associated with the athletes.
