Samsung Upgrades LCD Line For Holidays

Samsung revamped its LCD monitor line up for the holiday selling season, introducing six new retail SKUs that are expected in stores by early this month.

Leading the line up is the 19-inch Sync-Master 970p. This unit incorporates a three-hinged adjustable stand and the company’s proprietary MagicTune software that gives consumers control over every aspect of the monitor’s performance. The monitor can be spun on its axis for better Web page viewing. The model will carry a $549 suggested retail price.

The 940MW is a 19W-inch model with an integrated HD-ready MagicTuner TV tuner. The 940MW features picture in picture and has a built-in speaker system along the bottom of the monitor’s screen. It will carry a $699 suggested retail price.

The 17-inch 740BF and 19-inch 940BF models are the first Samsung models with 4-millisecond gray-to-gray screen response times, down from the 12 milliseconds available last year. The faster response time makes these monitors better suited for gamers, said David Nichols, Samsung’s display marketing director. The units will carry respective suggested retail prices of $399 and $499, respectively.

The 21-inch 214T and 24-inch 244T carry suggested retail prices of $859 and $1,699, respectively. These models are also capable of being flipped while in use and properly maintain the data onscreen using Samsung’s MagicRotation software.
