unveiled to the world here Thursday three Wi-Fi-enabled additions to its NX series mirrorless Compact System Cameras (CSCs) - the NX1000, NX210 and NX20.
The NX210 ($1,100 suggested retail), and NX220 ($900), will both
ship in May, while the NX1000 is due later at a price be announced.
All three incorporate Samsung's SMART camera technology with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity that allows easily uploading images to favorite online sites where ever a hot spot is provided.
SMART allows sharing pictures at the touch of a button, uploading to social networks including Facebook and Picasa, or emailing images straight from the camera. It will help the camera link to a Samsung smartphone, which can then be used as a remote viewfinder.
Each model also features a 20.3 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensors, compatibility with Samsung's nine model i-Function lenses that enable users to adjust camera settings using the lens so a photographer never has to move away from the framed target.
Ten Smart Filters and added Selective Color function are offered to enable adjusting the look and feel of shots as they are taken.
All three cameras also feature Panorama and 3D Panorama functions. A Smart Panel feature on all three models enables adjusting settings and features.
Samsung said the cameras are targeted at both professional photographers looking for an advanced, yet compact interchangeable lens model they can easily carry around and advanced amateurs looking to step up from a point-&-shoot to a compact camera offer greater creative control.
The NX1000 will be available in white, black or pink body colors and features Smart Auto 2.0 and the Smart Link Hot Key that simplify picture settings and sharing images.
It features a 3-inch 921,000-dot LCD display, contrast AF with single AF and continuous AF modes, up to 1/4,000 sec. shutter speed with JPEG burst shooting from 8 to 11fps (high) or 3fps up to 15 shots (low), and an ISO range from 100 to 12,800 and auto ISO upper level selectable up to 3,200.
Flash is external only, and the camera will shoot SRW RAW image files as well as JPEGs.
Video is captures in MP4 (H.264) in up to 1920-by-1080/30fps (default) and 1920-by-810/24fps as well as 720p and SD formats for easy sharing.
The NX210, which replaces the NX200, features a metallic finish and offers a 3-inch AMOLED swivel-screen display for viewing Full HD videos recorded by the camera, a Samsung Mobile Link enabling sending images to phones and tablets and a TV Link to connect the NX210 wirelessly to internet-enabled TVs.
The NX20 features a DSLR feel at a fraction of the size and weight. Included is an ergonomic grip, 3-inch AMOLED display, fast shutter speeds up to 1/8000 sec., and a range of functions and manual controls, including SVGA EVF to help frame professional quality images.
The NX20 also features a TTL auto pop-up flash to complement the hot shoe for an optional external unit.
