New York — Samsung has slowly been pulling back the curtain on several new imaging peripherals to compliment its digital cameras at two recent trade shows.
At the Photo Marketing Association (PMA) show the company demonstrated what it dubbed an HD Photo Box — a 250GB hard disc based photo viewer with HDMI outputs for displaying digital images on an HD television. The unit features card slots for the popular flash-memory formats as well as built-in software for organizing images by keywords and composition. Pricing and availability were not announced.
The company also showed a GPS unit at PMA for its recently introduced L73 digital camera. The pocket-sized unit can sync with the camera to note where a person was at the time a particular photo was shot. When photos are transferred to a PC, software can sync those images with Google Earth, giving a visual representation of where a person was on the globe for each particular photo.
At CeBIT, the company showed a line of digital photo frames initially destined for the European market. The models include 12-inch and 8-inch model and a 7-inch Wi-Fi-enabled viewer.
