Dallas – Samsung is bringing its previously announced 6.3-inch Galaxy Mega smartphone/tablet hybrid to the U.S. market beginning this month.
AT&T, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular will carry the device, but Sprint did not reveal the unit’s pricing or specific availability dates through each carrier. Samsung also did not announce which color options – black or white — that each carrier would offer.
Sprint said it would offer the device “later this year.”
Samsung announced the product in May for availability in foreign markets but did not say at the time whether it would come to the U.S.
The company said the device is designed for “those who want to experience smartphone portability with the immersive experience of a tablet.”
The Galaxy Mega features Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), 1.7GHz dual-core CPU, 1.5GB of RAM., and expandable storage via microSD card.
It also features Air View, which lets users hover a finger an inch above the screen to preview emails and photos, initiate speed-dial and even magnify text. Multi Window split screen multitasking allows users to run multiple apps on one screen simultaneously.
WatchON Control turns the phablet into an IR remote. And Easy Mode helps first-time smartphone owners by simplifying the home screen layout.
