Samsung Intros New NX Camera Lenses

this week introduced five new lenses for its NX camera system,
including a premium portrait lens new silent operation features to assist in
movie capture.

All of the lenses are compatible with Samsung’s new i-Function
system with through-the-lens creative control for the NX mirrorless
interchangeable-lens camera line, Samsung said.

Meanwhile, the new additions raise Samsung’s portfolio of NX
system lenses to 10 overall.

New models are highlighted by an 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 multi-purpose
long zoom lens, which is optimized for both stills and high-quality movie
capture. It is said to feature fast, silent autofocus operation using Samsung’s
Voice Coil Motor (VCM) technology.

Also included is optical image stabilization (OIS).

A new compact 16mm f2.4 ultra-wide pancake lens was also added.
The lens is aid to deliver strong low light and shallow depth-of-field performance
characteristics.

A new 60mm Macro f2.8 super fast lens add to the line also offers
silent AF operation via Samsung’s Super Sonic Actuator (SSA). It includes OIS and the ability to manually fine-tune focusing using a full-time
manual focus override setting. 

The premium portrait lens is an 85mm f1.4 lens that Samsung said
was designed for professional photographers. The lens includes the SSA with fast
and silent AF. The 85mm premium portrait lens also includes a full-time manual focus,
giving advanced photographer’s greater control over preferred settings.

Samsung’s 16-80mm f3.5-4.5 advanced standard zoom lens is also
said to have been optimized for both movies and stills. It has fast, silent auto-focus
and OIS. The lens includes VCM modes ranging from
landscape to portrait.

products that a professional photographer would be proud to use, but we make
them so easy to use that a novice could get amazing results every time, and
that is a credit to our strong R&D team. We are continuing to innovate in
this exciting market and we have more significant developments planned for the
future, which will add to our growing strength in the compact system camera
market.”

Pricing was not disclosed. Lenses and their availability dates
follow:
