Ridgefield Park, N.J. – Samsung has launched a new philanthropy program created to benefit children’s education called “Hope For Education” in which the company will donate $1 million in technology products.
The program is designed to give 100 elementary, middle and high schools across the country the chance each to win $10,000 in technology equipment, with $100,000 in products going to the grand prize winner, via an online essay contest, Samsung said.
The technology prizes include Samsung’s latest products, including 42-inch plasma TVs, 32-inch DynaFlat TVs, 17-inch LCD monitors, DVD/VCR combo units color laser printers and camera phones.
Anyone can enter the contest by going to www.hopeforeducation.com and submitting a 100-word essay describing how Samsung Electronics’ technology can benefit a school in their community. The contest runs through October 31, 2004.
Samsung’s Home For Education contest is open to students, teachers, parents or anyone who knows of a school in need. Anyone who submits an entry on behalf of a winning school will be awarded a Samsung 17-inch multi-function LCD monitor with a built-in TV tuner as an individual prize. The 100-word essay can be submitted via www.hopeforeducation.com.
All essays will be evaluated by an independent judging committee made up of professionals from the academic as well as the editorial communities. Committee members come from CornellUniversity, Wharton School of Business, USA Today and TWICE.
