South Korea – Samsung Electronics denied a report Tuesday that it was planning
to cut monthly television panel production up to 80 percent by the end of this
year.
“We are not
planning any artificial cut in production and will keep production flexible to
meet customer demand,” Samsung said in a statement.
The Korea Economic
Daily reported Tuesday that Samsung was planning to cut TV panel production as
it ramped up production of smaller panels used for tablets and notebook PCs.
The story, which
attributed the news to unnamed sources, said Samsung would reduce its monthly
LCD TV panel production from between 1 million and 1.3 million units to around
2 million to 3 million units by the end of the year.
