Ridgefield Park, N.J. — Set-top-box maker Boxee confirmed it has been acquired by Samsung Electronics.
A confirmation statement posted on the Boxee’s website also notes, “The beta Cloud DVR functionality we provided to certain Boxee TV users will be discontinued on July 10. You will not have access to your existing recordings after that date.”
Boxee’s $99 TV device, which provided web-based content, featured a built-in antenna to also access over-the-air TV signals.
TWICE reached out to Samsung for more details but didn’t receive a response as of this posting.
