Ridgefield Park, N.J — Circuit City and Samsung, through the vendor’s Four Seasons of Hope charity program, are entering the home stretch of a month-long national retail promotion to benefit the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation.
Safe at Home, founded by the renown New York Yankees manager to help end domestic violence, has received $1.2 million in donations through Samsung’s national goodwill program over the past four years. In the current effort, held in conjunction with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, both Samsung and Circuit City have been making donations to Torre’s foundation whenever Circuit City customers purchase Samsung products.
Circuit City will donate up to $150,000 to the charity, while offering its customers a chance to win an “All American Dream Vacation” sweepstakes. The Grand Prize is a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, followed by a second-place prize of a Samsung 50W-inch DLP HDTV (HL-R5067W); five third place prizes of a Samsung MP3 player (YP-T7X); and ten fourth place prizes of a Circuit City gift card worth $100. Consumers can enter by visitingwww.samsung.com/joetorre through October 31.
“Samsung is thrilled to team up with Circuit City to raise money and to help improve the quality of life for children and their families who face huge challenges,” said Peter Weedfald, senior VP/sales and marketing, Consumer Electronics & North American Corporate Marketing, Samsung Electronics. “By involving the community through this national promotion at Circuit City locations, Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope is raising awareness about an important cause by offering incentives for consumers to get involved.”
In conjunction with the national retail promotion, Circuit City and Samsung raised additional funds with the Home Run for Kids program, which donated $1,000 to the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation each time a New York Yankee player hit a home run at Yankee Stadium during the 2005 regular season. Home runs hit and money pledged were tallied on air during each home-game broadcast on the YESNetwork.
