Samsung Chromebook To Ship

San Francisco – Samsung’s first Chrome OS-based notebook will hit
BestBuy.com and Amazon.com on June 15 with a sub-$500 price tag.

The Chromebook Series 5 is a two SKU set that is based around
Google Chrome mobile operating system, which was introduced to the market about
two years ago.

The two models are use a 12.1-inch display with a 0.79-inch thick
chassis that weighs 3.3 pounds. The Wi-Fi only version will carry a $429
suggested retail price, while the 3G model will cost $499. Samsung said the
Series 5 models will boot up in under 10 seconds, due to the capabilities built
into the Chrome OS. When popping back on from sleep mode the unit simply turns
back on, the company added.

There is no internal storage, all data is stored on the cloud. Verizon will offer 100MB of storage space free with a standard two-year contract, Samsung said.
