Samsung Bows PC Game For Sales Training

Samsung Electronics is debuting at Booth 742 during Winter CES "Sales Explorer," an interactive PC game that instructs the trade about the key selling points of many of the company's exciting products. Salespeople who participate in the promotion will have the opportunity to win prizes as they learn about Samsung trends, facts and terminology that will help them secure better relationships with their customers and sell more product, the company says.

Sales Explorer was created by BrandGames, a unit of New York-based Media Designs Interactive, a marketing company specializing in interactive multimedia. The company develops interactive kiosks, direct-mail programs, and sales and training programs. The objective of the game is to pilot a spaceship through the galaxy while operating robotics arms to pick up product-information modules. As the containers open, they reveal Samsung product demonstrations and industry trend information in a space-age graphic motif. Once a salesperson completes the game, he or she is eligible to call the Simply Samsung 800 phone number to enter the Intergalactic Sales Sweepstakes that features TVs, VCRs, TV/VCR combination units, microwave ovens, and audio systems as prizes.

Samsung expects to distribute a minimum of 20,000 disks to retailers nationwide. The Samsung Sales Explorer game highlighted at Winter CES will feature an electronic trailer that promotes the program. Samsung will also support the sales education program with print advertising and direct mail. "We have developed a unique program to communicate our power brand message to the retail floor salesperson," said John Havens, National Training Manager at Samsung. "This program allows Samsung to get closer to the retail environment with lots of excitement, fanfare and fun," Haven said. "It also links Samsung products to better selling success, substantiates Samsung's position as a global industrial giant, and reinforces the Samsung message through multiple impressions."
