Sam's Club Teases Black Friday Sale

Bentonville, Ark. - In back-to-back holiday actions, Sam's Club has tipped its hand on some of its Black Friday CE specials, while sister site is offering free holiday shipping on its entire CE assortment.

Day-after-Thanksgiving sales at Wal-Mart's warehouse club division will include a 42-inch Hitachi 1080p LCD TV for $498, a Samsung Fascinate smartphone for less than $1 (with a two-year contract), a Sony Blu-ray Disc player for $94.88, a Hewlett-Packard  10.1-inch netbook for $228 and a Nintendo Wii Super Mario Bros. bundle for $299.

The chain said its Black Friday promotion will extend to dozens of products across all categories.

The members-only sale will run from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 26. Sam's Club will offer a "sneak peek" at its Black Friday fare during a "Taste of Sam's Club" food-sampling event Nov. 19-21, and plans to serve early-bird shoppers a complimentary Black Friday breakfast of hot egg sandwiches, fruit, yogurt and coffee.

Sam's Club's Black Friday preview follows a free-shipping offer from on some 60,000 items, including all CE products (except iPods and iPads) and thousands of video games.

The offer, running now through Dec. 20, requires no minimum purchase or subscriptions fees, and is seen as a swipe at competitors like and whose free shipping programs variously do.

In making the announcement, emphasized the program's free CE shipping component by citing the eligibility of such products as:

  • a Philips DVD player ($39);
  •  a Sanyo 12-megapixel digital camera with 3x optical zoom ($52);
  • Sony's Handycam 4GB flash-memory camcorder with 60x optical zoom ($249);
  • HP's Garden Dreams 14.5-inch Pavilion special-edition laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium ($598); and
  • a 46-inch Sony Bravia 1080p, 120Hz LCD TV ($898).

Eligible items are shipped for free via standard shipping and delivered to customers' doors within three to five business days after the order is processed, the company said. Return shipping is also free, although purchases can also be brought to a local Walmart store.
