Cologne, Germany — Sakar has debuted a line of Polaroid-branded digital cameras and camcorders at the Photokina trade show, held here this week.
The products will appear in mid-September at select Sears and Kmart stores, Sakar said, and will then be available at such other retailers as Staples, Ritz Camera, Walmart, h.h.gregg and BrandsMart USA, among others.
The line will initially consist of four camcorders and three cameras, and are the first in a series of products to come, the company added.
In camcorders the Polaroid iD820’s body is 0.5 inches wide and weighs 4 ounces. It has a 3-inch 16:9 touchscreen and can record 1080p resolution and capture 12-megapixel still shots. A dual-stream recording capability lets users record in 1080p or a lower resolution for “YouTube-ready quality,” Sakar said. It uses a lithium-ion battery. Suggested retail is $179.
The iD879 ($179) records 1080p video, 12-megapixel stills and has a 5x optical zoom. It also has the same dual-stream recording as the iD820, and comes with dual memory card slots (SD and MicroSD).
The iD450 ($179) features built-in Wi-Fi so users can stream video or upload to social-networking sites using the onboard Ustream app, Sakar said. Features include 1080p video recording and a 3-inch touchscreen.
The iD640 ($99.99) is billed as a waterproof, shock-proof, dust-proof and freeze-proof pocket video camera. Features include 2-inch LCD, 720p video capture, 4x digital zoom, SD card slot and lithium battery. A variety of colors will be offered.
In digital cameras the 16-.1-megapixel Polaroid iS2132 ($199) is billed as a bridge camera, combining DSLR features with the ease of a point-and-shoot. It has an ultra-wide-angle 25mm lens with 21x enhanced-definition optical zoom, pop up flash, face auto-exposure and blink detection. It can also record HD video, according to the company.
The iF045 ($99.99) is a waterproof, dual-view 14.-1-megapixel camera with front- and rear-facing LCD displays. It also has a 5x digital zoom.
The ultra-compact iS326 ($79.99) has a 3x digital zoom and a lithium-ion battery. Further specs were not available at posting.
