Rotel Teams With Internet Radio Service

North Reading, Mass. –

Rotel

has teamed up with the

Aupeo!

music service
to deliver more than 80 Internet radio stations, plus personalized stations, to
Rotel’s first networked-audio components.

Berlin-based Aupeo! will offer a free ad-supported 128Kbps
service and a subscription-based ad-free 320Kbps service to two previously
announced networked Rotel products, now due in the summer. Additional networked
components are due sometime in the fourth quarter, a spokesperson said.

One of the two previously announced products is the
$999-suggested RDG-1520 stereo FM tuner with integrated Internet radio tuner
and ability to stream music from a networked PC that uses Windows Media Player
11. The device comes with included Wi-Fi USB dongle. The second product is the
$1,500 RCX-1500 stereo CD-receiver with embedded FM tuner and the same Internet
radio and PC networking features as the RDG-1520. It also comes with Wi-Fi
dongle.

Rotel chose Aupeo! so it could offer the service to consumers in
Europe and Asia as well as the U.S. Other popular Internet-radio services
available in the U.S. stream only to U.S. consumers, Rotel said.

With Aupeo!, users
can create personalized music selections based on artist, mood and the like. A
free basic service streams music at 128Kbps, and a premium package offers
higher quality streaming at up to 320Kbps — the perfect match for the
exceptional sound quality of Rotel’s products.
