Roku Cuts Network Audio Prices

Publish date:

Palo Alto, Calif. — Roku reduced the suggested retail prices of its Internet-connected SoundBridge Radio to $299 from $399 and its SoundBridge M1001 networked music player to $149 from $199.

The SoundBridge Radio is a Wi-Fi-equipped clock radio that wakes consumers by playing Internet radio stations or networked-PC music files. Unveiled in 2005, it was the company’s first networked music player with built-in amplification, speakers, AM/FM tuner, memory card slot and alarm clock. It features an Ethernet port and built-in wireless 802.11b to stream radio stations through networked broadband modems and stream music files residing on a networked PC.

The SoundBridge M1001 is a Wi-Fi-connected music client that streams music to a connected audio system from a Wi-Fi-equipped PC in another room. The 10-inch-wide component features a 280- by 16-pixel display for up to two lines of text. It also enables users to stream Internet radio stations without turning on the PC.
