Tempe, Ariz. – Rockford Fosgate will sponsor driver Paul “PT” Tracy during the 100th annual Indy 500 race on May 29 and in five other races during the IRL season.
The sponsorship marks the first time since 2005 that the company has been involved in car racing, having that year been an associate sponsor of the ALMS series.
The sponsorship is the second racing sponsorship announced this year by the autosound brand. Earlier this year, Rockford Fosgate announced its first-ever sponsorship of the AMA Supercross FIM World Championship series of dirt-bike races and Factory Honda rider Josh Grant. The Supercross veteran and X Games gold medalist sports a Rockford Fosgate logo on his helmet and makes appearances to talk about supercross racing and car audio.
In the latest sponsorship deal, Tracy will carry the Rockford Fosgate logo while he drives the No. 23 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing entry.
The theme of both 2011 sponsorships, said a spokesman, is “people that embody the Rockford lifestyle.”
