Tempe, Ariz. –
Rockford Fosgate reentered the market for all-in-one powered subwoofers for the
car.
Two new Punch-series
systems, which are shipping, are the $279-suggested P300-10 with 10-inch driver
and $299 P300-12 with 12-inch driver, both with sealed-enclosure that houses a
300-watt amplifier. Both are designed for OEM-system integration or for saving
space when building an aftermarket car audio system from the ground up.
The brand last offered
a powered subwoofer in 2009, offering the 12-inch 300-watt model at a suggested
$699.
Product development director Jake Braaten said
the new systems quickly add bass to a system and alleviate the hassle of installing
separate amplifiers and subwoofers. Consumers need only run power, ground, and
signal wires from the source to the products.
Features include built-in 0/180-degree phase
switch, 35Hz-150Hz frequency response, separate low-level and speaker-level
inputs, built-in adjustable bass boost EQ, adjustable 12db/octave low-pass
crossover, detachable power/ground connector, auto turn on/off, thermal and
over voltage protection, high-efficiency low-current design, and remote bass-level
controller.
The enclosure is built from 5/8-inch MDF and covered
with heat-activated vinyl to resist scrapes and bumps in a trunk or cargo area.
