Denver – Ricoh Imaging introduced on Wednesday a new lens to its expanding APS-C optimized lens lineup with the HD Pentax DA 20-40mm F2.8-4ED Limited DC WR lens.
Ricoh’s Pentax 20-400mm F2.8, which ships in December at a $999 suggested retail, is billed as the first zoom lens in Ricoh Imaging’s Limited Lens series, and offers a high-grade multi-layer High Definition (HD) coating. It is also the first Limited Lens to feature Ricoh’s weather-sealed construction.
It is the 29th APS-C optimized lens currently available in Ricoh’s Pentax lens line-up.
The lens features a bright F2.8 maximum aperture (at 20mm) and rounded diaphragm blades to produce a smooth bokeh effect. At higher aperture numbers, the ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements and a proprietary HD coating deliver clear, crisp, high-contrast images free of flare and ghosting, the company said.
The HD Pentax DA 20-40mm also features a lens-based direct-current focusing motor with quiet and smooth autofocus functionality.
