RetailVision Starts In San Francisco This Tuesday

RetailVision Spring ’99 kicks off Tuesday through Friday this week at San Francisco’s Hilton Tower and Hotel, with the theme being “Real Vision, Real Results.”

The event features major computer and convergence-related product introductions and is expected to draw representatives from over 250 traditional and e-commerce retailers.

RetailVision is distinctive for its one-on-one meetings with vendors and retailers. Of the more than 100 vendors attending RetailVision, more than 40 are first-timers, according to show organizer Vision Events International, a subsidiary of the GartnerGroup.

Partners supporting the event are Ingram Micro, Tech Data and TWICE, which will be publishing preview and wrap-up issues about RetailVision.

Among the highlights scheduled are:

  • World premieres of four major product introductions are set to be announced by Corel, IBM Consumer Voice Systems, Iomega and Lernout & Hauspie Speech Products.
  • Craig Mundie, senior VP of Microsoft’s Consumer Platform Division, delivers the keynote address on Tuesday evening.
  • Vendors will find out what key technology retailers are doing during RetailVision’s PowerView sessions, which will feature Best Buy, CompUSA, Egghead.com, Fry’s Electronics, Micro Center, Office Depot and Staples.
  • And RetailVision’s Gala Awards Dinner will be the setting for presentation of the Best Of RetailVision, Best Of RetailVision Europe and Retail Star Club Awards.

Full coverage of RetailVision will appear in the April 26 issue of TWICE.
