Xbox One Launch Events

NEW YORK – Retailers including Best Buy, Game- Stop and Walmart marked last month’s rollouts of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with special hours and launch events. Select Best Buy stores remained open all night for the 12:01 a.m. launches and distributed tickets on a first-come, first-served basis for a limited quantity of open-stock consoles. Not surprisingly, Sony Stores also held midnight events for the PS4 at most of the chain’s locations, as did Walmart and Meijer. In addition, Sony held special “All Access: Greatness Awaits” launch events in New York and San Francisco, the latter at a GameStop near Union Square, and the former at a Manhattan Meat Packing District hotel. Live coverage of both events was broadcast by Spike TV.

GameStop stores also stayed open for the midnight release of Microsoft’s Xbox One bundles, and held chain-wide prelaunch events featuring giveaways, refreshments, unspecified “fun activities” and special trade-in offers, while Microsoft heralded the rollout with an exclusive VIP concert with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square.

Petra To Carry Good Call Accessories Line

EDMOND, OKLA. — Petra Industries has partnered with Good Call to incorporate its Bluetooth accessories into their WirelessHQ lineup. Good Call’s products offer a solution to the constant problems of hardto- hear cellular phone calls, arm fatigue and constant drained cell battery life, Petra said. Their handset works as a Bluetooth-enabled receiver to help conserve the battery of an iPhone and offers users the convenience and high-quality audio of a cordless phone handset that you’d typically only expect from a landline, according to the distributor. “Good Call is an excellent addition to our WirelessHQ product mix, and we’re excited to offer their products that fill a need in the wireless segment,” said Tate Morgan, Petra Industries president.
