Retailers Honor Thomson With Four Awards

Indianapolis – Thomson was recognized by four major retailers for providing outstanding service, enabling them to achieve operational and financial goals for 2002.

The four retailers, Best Buy, Wal-Mart Canada, OfficeMax and Aaron’s, cited Thomson for its close collaboration in improving inventory reduction, responding to changing market demands and upgrading the retailer/manufacturer relationship, among other criteria, the manufacturer said.

Thomson’s strategy in Consumer Products is to enhance its relationship with retailers by delivering best-in-class quality and extending the breadth of its offering to added value services such as collaboration on manufacturer/retailer operations improvements. Thomson reorganized its Consumer Products activities in 2003 to emphasize this strategy through the formation of a new profit center – ‘Consumer Product Services’ – that will offer new services to its customers.

‘This closer working relationship with major retailers favorably positions Consumer Products activities for added success when the economic environment recovers.’ said Thomson’s Mike O’Hara, executive VP, Consumer Products Worldwide Marketing & Sales and head of Consumer Product Services.

The awards Thomson received for the year 2000 are: Wal-Mart Canada’s Vendor of the Year; BestBuy BRAVO Award; OfficeMax Strategic Vendor Partnership Award; and the Aaron’s Sales & Lease Vendor of the Year Award.
