Nationwide, the 350-member rental division of the Nationwide Marketing Group,
has added IT services firm Support Squad to its vendor roster.
Support Squad, based in Fort
Lauderdale, Fla., provides remote and phone-based support for issues involving
PCs, components, viruses and spam through its staff of Microsoft-certified specialists,
who are trained in more than 80 software applications.
According to RentDirect executive
director James MacAlpine, computers are the fastest growing segment in the
rent-to-own industry, having eclipsed appliance sales over the past five years.
As computer sales continue to
grow, rent-to-own dealers are faced with the challenge of servicing customers
who are inexperienced with computers or have difficulty setting up new programs,
“Most rental dealers do not have
the manpower in their stores to handle the technical service issues needed to
support computer sales,” MacAlpine noted. “The Support Squad partnership is a
chance for us to give our dealers the ability to offer a higher level of
customer service, currently offered by big box retailers, while saving them
time and money.”
