RadioShack Promotes Amschler To Tap New Opportunities

Fort Worth, Texas — RadioShack has promoted franchise VP Marty Amschler to senior VP to reflect his expanded role in mining new business opportunities for the chain.

Besides overseeing the company’s approximately 1,000 franchised RadioShack locations, and extending the operation to Southeast Asia last year through a 10-country deal with Berjaya Retail, Amschler also forged a recent a distribution agreement that will bring branded RadioShack sections to college bookstores nationwide this fall.

“Since joining RadioShack in 2009, Marty has been instrumental in expanding the RadioShack brand across domestic and international markets, and we’ve seen tremendous growth through the strategic partnerships Marty has forged on behalf of our brand,” said RadioShack CEO Joe Magnacca. “His ability to identify key potential sales and franchise relationships has been invaluable. This new expanded role will enable Marty to continue to be a champion and help us find new channels that will allow us to tap into existing and new customers around the world.”

The imperative to find profitable new revenue sources has grown ever more pressing for RadioShack as margins continue to compress within its core mobile business and recent wireless outsourcing programs for Sam’s Club and Target have concluded.

Prior to joining RadioShack in 2009, Amschler performed similar duties for Kinney Shoe, The Athlete’s Foot and NexCen Brands.
