Quixel: Consumers Statisfied With New TVs

Katonah, NY – A new study from home theater display market research firm Quixel Research LLC, indicates extremely high satisfaction levels among consumers who recently purchased a plasma display, LCD-TV or microdisplay rear projection TV.

‘We know from our ongoing research that these newer technology TVs are selling at an extremely rapid pace,’ said Tamaryn Pratt, Quixel Research principal. ‘Only now we know that manufacturers are definitely on the right track, with 97 percent of consumers stating they are satisfied or better with their recent TV purchase.’

The study found purchasers of LCD-TVs were the most satisfied of all surveyed. Out of the 263 LCD-TV consumers participating, almost 55 percent were ‘completely satisfied’ with their purchase.

Although the overall satisfaction level was high for all the products surveyed, many differences were identified relating to product usage, installation and product improvement recommendations. In addition to consumer satisfaction, the report, titled ‘Customer Product Satisfaction – High Tech Displays’ gathers insights related to the retail channel at which consumers purchased the product.

It encompassed over 550 phone interviews with recent customers of either Best Buy or Harvey Electronics between July 1t, 2002 and Feb. 28, 2003.

Other findings in the study cover the following:

  • Picture quality satisfaction levels
  • First and second favorite product features
  • Who, how and where the product was installed
  • Changes that would improve the product
  • Respondents likelihood to recommend the product
