Pure Digital Camcorder Connects To YouTube

San Francisco — Pure Digital Technologies announced a next-generation version of its flash-based video recorder capable of uploading video to YouTube and other video-sharing Web sites.

The Flip Video camcorder is shipping this month in two models, a 30-minute and a 60-minute version for suggested $119 and $149, respectively.

The previous version of the camcorder, called the Point and Shoot, offered software for uploading to Grouper and Google Video, but not YouTube (now owned by Google).

The Flip Video camcorders feature built-in software for uploading, e-mailing and editing video clips. As with the previous Point and Shoot model, consumers can bring the Flip Video to participating retailers to have their videos burned to a DVD.

CVS/pharmacy, Rite Aid, Ritz Camera Centers, Longs Drugs and Duane Reade all offer the ability to produce DVDs from the Flip Video.

The camcorders feature a 1.5-inch color screen for reviewing video and a 2x digital zoom.
