Pure Audio Adds Internet Radio With Touchscreen

San Francisco – U.K.-based Pure, which arrived in North America in 2010 with a variety of tabletop Internet radios, has added its first color-touchscreen model.

The $449-suggested Sensia 200D Connect also expands the company’s selection of tabletop Internet radios with the ability to play music streamed from Android and iOS mobile devices.

The radio features embedded Wi-Fi, FM tuner, 30-watt Class D amplification, and 5.7-inch touchscreen, which displays album artwork, weather reports, Twitter feeds, Facebook updates, RSS feeds and photos from Picasa and from network-connected PCs.

The tabletop radio streams thousands of internet radio stations plus on-demand programs through the Pure Connect online media portal (connect.pure.com). It also let users record Internet radio programming to a USB for playback on PCs and USB-equipped home and car audio systems. Consumers can schedule up to three recordings at a time or instantly record what they are playing.

With Pure Stream technology based on DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) technology, the radio plays back music stored on Android and iOS mobile devices and streamed over a home’s Wi-Fi network. The mobile device must be equipped with a free Pure Connect app, which also features cloud-based music content that can be streamed to the tabletop radio.

Pure Stream capability is also available on the One Flow Internet radio and will be added to other Pure Internet radios in the coming months, including the Contour 200i Air. Some of the company’s radios include 30-pin iPod/iPhone docks.

The Sensia can be used with an optional battery pack for portability.

The device became available today at Pure.com and several online retailers, including Newegg.com.
