PSB Expands Imagine Speaker Series

Sharon, Mass. –
PSB expanded its Imagine series of curvy freestanding speakers with the
shipment of the Imagine Mini, the smallest of the speakers in the brand’s
Imagine series.

The Imagine Mini
is a compact model that brings technology from the top-end Synchrony series to
price points ranging from a suggested $760 to $830/pair, depending on finish,
and the model borrows the subtle curves and seamless surfaces of its larger
Imagine series cousins.

Imagine speakers are positioned as offering clear
midrange presence, “uncluttered” bass, smooth extended highs and high-power
handling. The Mini is designed to offer integration with its larger cousins in
a home-theater system, operate as a near-field computer speaker system, and
create a compact desktop stereo system, particularly in small urban apartments.

In black ash, dark cherry or walnut
furniture-grade wood veneers, the Mini retails for a suggested $760/pair. In
high-gloss black or white finishes, the retail is $830/pair. Matching stands
and custom brackets are also available.

The Mini is 9.25 inches by 5.75 inches by 8.3
inches, and its enclosure houses a 4-inch woofer with a clay/ceramic compounded
polypropylene cone and rubber surround, a 1-inch titanium dome tweeter with
Ferrofluid, and a rear bass reflex port.

Unlike other compact two-way speakers, the
company said, the Mini’s tweeter is crossed over lower at 2.2kHz. That enables
the tweeter and woofer to be placed closer together to minimize interference
between them, the company said.

The Mini also adds
a second neodymium magnet to the woofer, resting on top of the pole piece to
boost magnetic force to deliver more control over bass response and more bass
extension, the company said.

The Image series also includes a tower,
bookshelf, center channel and dedicated surround speaker.
