PMA News: JVC Unveils New Everio HD Camcorder

Las Vegas – JVC will introduce a new Everio camcorder targetted toward early adopters, the company said at its PMA press conference, here, today.

The SD-card based Everio X will be the company’s first to incorporate a 10-megapixel CMOS sensor,

capable of capturing 9-megapixel stills and recording AVCHD format HD video at 1920 by 1080 at 24MBps. The unit is also capable of recording slow motion video at 300fps, 300fps and 120fps.

While shooting video, the unit can capture 5-megapixel still photos at a 60fps burst mode for a total of 11 frames. In standard still photo mode, it can burst at 15fps for up to 15 9-megapixel stills

It will incorporate a new optical image stabilization technology, which corrects for motion at the front of the lens instead of inside the lens, as in conventional optical stabilizaton systems. The Everio X will pack 15 scene modes, a 5x optical zoom lens, face detection, a 2.8-inch Laser Touch panel display, and dedicated YouTube uploading and iTunes transferring buttons. It also offers a button for burning AVCHD DVDs when connected to JVC’s ShareStation DVD burner.

It will ship in May or June for $999 in black.
