Pioneer Ready To Unzip Zypr For CE, OEM Car Use

LONG BEACH, CALIF. –

Pioneer plans next
month to announce OEM partners for Zypr, its
voice-controlled web services platform for OEM
infotainment systems, smartphones, tablets, TVs
and PCs.

July’s announcements will include automaker
partners and other OEM partners, a spokesman
said.

Zypr, formerly called PAIS (Platform for the integration
of Internet Services), operates as a webservices
hub that lets users centralize multiple
web service accounts, such as social networking
and Internet radio services, for access across multiple
devices and multiple brands of devices. Zypr
users could access their services with a similar
user interface across compatible in-car infotainment
systems, TVs, tablets and other CE devices
from multiple brands. All logins would be centralized
for simpler access.

Zypr would also voice-enable the applications
and make possible “mashups” of apps, integrating
the apps to work together in previously unavailable
ways, the spokesman said.

More than 20 companies have partnered so
far to offer apps, including Facebook, Twitter,
Google, Yelp, Voicebox, AccuWeather, Slacker
Radio, Tuner2 Radio, WCities and XAD. The latest
was traffic-information provider Inrix, enabling
Zypr app makers to integrate real-time Inrix traffic
data with location-based services and with such
services as Twitter, Facebook and Yelp.
