Pioneer Adds to DJM Pro Mixer Line

Long Beach, Calif.
– Pioneer Electronics’ professional sound and visual division introduced the
latest addition to its line of DJM mixers.

The DJM-2000
professional mixer is billed as being compatible with any digital media player,
as well as the first to feature 5.8-inch multi-touch screen effects.

It features a
sectioned layout. The top center section has its EFX capabilities, and located
on each side of the middle section is its audio mixing controls for connection
of up to four digital or USB sources. Across the middle section, Pioneer added
new INST FX (Instant Instrument FX) functions that allow DJs to further alter
and create more sound effects, the company said. Finally, the bottom center of
the mixer has a large LCD touch display that provides DJs a window for remixing
beats and adding effects.

Three different
performance modes are available, including Frequency mix, which reportedly
enables more precise mixing within seven frequency ranges; Sidechain remix,
which lets DJs create seven different dynamic audio effects with touches and
movements on the screen; and MIDI mode, which lets users assign various
controls displayed on the LCD screen to control DJ software via MIDI. Four types of MIDI
modes are available for more performance flexibility.

Other features
include Evolved Beat Effects, effect frequency knobs, INST FX with six
additional audio effects, Pro DJ Link, and a Live Sampler capability that
allows the sound from a microphone or from the master output to be recorded
directly into the mixer. The “sampled” sound can instantly be transferred via
LAN cable to a CDJ-2000/900 for scratching, Pioneer said.

It will be
available in June for a $2,999 suggested retail.
