Amsterdam, Netherlands — Philips Electronics repair technicians will make house calls to 12,000 U.S. customers to fix a glitch in their plasma televisions that causes the units to overheat, the company reported today.
The problem is restricted to Philips 42-inch and 50-inch models sold in the United States, according to published reports. Philips said that while the units are fireproof and there is no cause for alarm, it will replace the overheating component. Philips officials would not say how much the fix will cost the company.
