Philips CE To Move To Connecticut

Atlanta — Philips Electronics said it will be moving its operations to Stamford, Conn., over the course of the year as part of the ongoing merger with the company’s personal care division.

The new Philips Consumer Lifestyle North America operation will use a building on Summer Street in Stamford that has been occupied by the domestic appliances unit since last summer. Philips said it also plans to move the offices for its accessories division in Ledgewood, N.J., to the Stamford location. For the time being the accessories group’s warehouse operations will remain in New Jersey, a spokesperson said.

The North American consumer electronics company had shared a building in Atlanta with Philips’ medical division since moving from Knoxville, Tenn., at the start of the decade. The medical division will continue to stay in that facility.

The consumer electronics unit in Atlanta currently has about 200 employees, a spokesperson said. Those who will be making the move “are being evaluated to see which roles will be needed to make the move.”

A number of employees still must decide if they want to make the move north, the spokesperson said.

“The move will simplify operations and support Philips’ vision to become a more customer-centric organization,” the company said in a statement.
