Golden, Colo. - Pentax Imaging introduced Wednesday its Optio RS1500 digital compact camera offering a wide range of customizable options.
The camera, which ships in April at a $150 suggested retail, can be custom detailed with a variety of faceplates to change its look to reflect the personality of the user.
The faceplate system uses no screws and includes an interchangeable-lens ring snap (choice of orange or black included) to hold custom skins of any personal choice or design.
To customize the RS1500, users may select one of 10 skins featuring contemporary designs that ship with the camera. Alternatively, they can visit a skins gallery at
or download the Pentax Personal Skin Designer Adobe Air-based software from
The digital designer can be used to import a photo or digital image and save a skin as a PDF for printing on a color printer.
Other features of the Optio RS1500 include 14-megapixel resolution, 3-inch LCD monitor, a 4x optical zoom lens covering 27.5mm wide angle to 110mm telephoto, and user-friendly operation.
The lightweight camera body is about the size of a credit-card and is available in pearl white or silver.
The Optio RS1500 features nine digital filters including toy camera, retro and sepia to add a variety of visual effects to images without the need for a computer. Multiple filters may also be applied to a single image for even more unique, creative visual effects.
