Pentax Shows Slate Of 2013 Cameras

LAS VEGAS – Pentax (Central Hall 15113) is presenting at International CES here a full range of digital cameras from ultra-compact point-and-shoots to advanced designer-styled DSLRs and mirrorless compacts.

Among the highlights of the point-and-shoot offerings is the MX-1 (shipping in February at a $500 suggested retail) advanced high performance camera featuring auto and manual control, retro styling design, a 4x (28mm-112mm) f1.8-2.5 lens and brass covers.

The camera incorporates a 1/1.7 inch, 12 megapixel backlit CMOS sensor, brass covers with texturized grip, ISO 12,800, Handheld Night snap mode, in-body RAW data development, 3-inch articulating LCD, Full HD video

The Optio LS465 is a super compact point-and-shoot offering fully customizable skins to match any fashion style and a choice of black, pinkc or purple body colors. Features include a 16-megapixel 1/2.33-inch interline transfer CCD, 720p HD video, 3200-6400 ISO range, 5x optical (28-140mm equivalent) 7.2x digital zoom lens, 2.7-inch LCD, 9-point AF, and built-in flash.

The X-5 is a bridge camera with a 26x super telephoto zoom lens and an articulating LCD screen.

The Optio WG-2 is Pentax’s latest ruggedized point-and-shoot.

In DSLRs Pentax is showing its K-5 II and K-5 IIs offering a SAFOX XAF sensor and a wide-range EV autofocus system (-3 EV to +18 EV) in its class. The K-5 IIs adds an anti-aliasing filterless design to produce superior resolution and detail.

The K-30 is a weather sealed DLSR offered in a choice of 18 body colors.

The 645D is the company’s medium-format 40-megapixel SLR. 

In mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras (ILCs) Pentax is offering consumers the ability to custom order its Q10 in 100 different color combinations.

Once an order is placed, the specifications are sent to the Pentx manufacturing facility where each camera will be hand built.

Consumers can mix and match body and grip colors by visiting the Q10 Studio at www.pentaximaging.com.

Pentax said retail partner Adorama will display the full line up of Q10 colors in their retail location.

The $600 camera (with 02 kit lens) features a 12.4 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, upgraded AF system and a top sensitivity of ISO 6400. It shoots FullHD videoin H.264 compression format, and Pentax’s CMOS-shifting shake reduction system.

Also appearing at the show is the Marc Newson-designed K-01 ILC and, as a “future product concept” the AF 360 FGZ II automatic, external, clip-on flash with a maximum guide number of 36 (at ISO 100) with bounce flash functionality adjustable both vertically and horizontally.
