Merrimack, N.H – PC Connection, the direct
marketer of IT products and services, has appointed Timothy McGrath president
and chief operating officer, a new position for the company.
McGrath joined PC Connection in 2005 and
most recently served as PC Connection Enterprises executive VP. He reports to chairman,
CEO and co-founder Patricia Gallup.
“This change was made to recognize Tim
McGrath’s outstanding leadership in times of both good and challenging economic
conditions,” Gallup said. “His ability to guide the efforts of our subsidiaries
to grow sales and earnings, focus on meeting the needs of their customers, and
achieve operational excellence has been a tremendous asset.”
McGrath began his IT career at Hewlett
Packard, where he served as area sales manager for the Eastern region, and
served as executive VP of Insight North America before joining PC Connection.
Publicly-held PC Connection sells
computer systems and peripherals direct to the business, government, education
and consumer channels through catalogs, phone and the Internet. The company
carries over 130,000 competitively-priced brand-name products that are
custom-configured, shipped and serviced from a central distribution facility in
Wilmington, Ohio.
Founded with $8,000 in 1982 by
Gallup and David Hall, the company went public and opened a new corporate
headquarters in Merrimack, N.H., in 1998. It has since grown into a Fortune
1000 business fueled by the 1999 purchase of ComTeq Federal (renamed
GovConnection) and the 2004 launch of ServiceConnection, which serves small
businesses.
The company also operates a
MacConnection sister site for Apple products, and more recently formed the PC
Connection Express, an e-tail and catalog subsidiary that sells an expanded
assortment of TVs, small office products, games and other CE to the consumer
and small office/home office (SOHO) segment.
PC Connection maintains facilities
in Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, Maryland and Texas, and ranked 52
nd
on the TWICE Top 100 with CE sales
of $154 million last year.
