Dallas – Pantech Wireless’ 4G LTE Flex smartphone will become available Sept. 16 on the AT&T network as the first AT&T smartphone with the ability to switch between a traditional Android user interface and a simpler version for first-time smartphone users.

The 4.6-ounce Android 4.0 phone, priced at $49, features a 4.3-inch SuperAMOLED qHD 540 by 960 display, 8GB of embedded storage, 32GB MicroSD slot, 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front camera, 1080p video capture, Dolby Digital Plus surround and ability to deliver a surround experience through headphones. The Swiftkey virtual keyboard learns the words and phrases used frequently by the end user to make corrections and predictions automatically while the user types.

For first-time smartphone users, the phone’s Easy Experience mode provides a single home screen with quick access to phone and camera features, messages, and menu with large, easy-to-read text and buttons in a clearly organized format, the company said. The home screen also features shortcut icons with access to the web, contacts and app shortcuts. Navigation offers limited scrolling.

For other consumers, the standard PanTech user interface features five customizable home screens.

The phone will be available Sept. 16 exclusively in AT&T-owned stores and the company’s website.
