Panasonic Ships GT25 Series 3D Plasma TVs

on Monday announced the availability and pricing on its previously reported Viera GT25 series of Full HD 1080p 3D plasma TVs, including new 42-inch and 50-inch class models.

The series includes the TC-P42G25 ($1,700 suggested retail), which at 42-inches offers a smaller screen alternative for 3D enthusiasts.

Also included is the TC-P50GT25, ($2,100 suggested retail) 50-inch model. Both models ship to dealers this month and also bring 2D to 3D conversion video conversion to expand the field of content available to watch in 3D.

Optional Active Shutter 3D Eyewear is required for viewing all 3D content.

The Viera GT25 series augments Panasonic's VT25 series, expanding the screen size selection from 42 inches through 65 inches. The company also markets 85-inch, 103-inch and 152-inch models through its professional products unit.

"From the beginning, Panasonic has led the charge into the immersive world of 3D home entertainment by offering end-to-end 3D home entertainment solutions including Full HD 3D Viera plasma TVs, 3D Blu-ray Disc players, professional and consumer 3D camcorders, the nation's first suite of 3D TV channels with partner DirecTV, and the authoring of 3D Blu-ray movies in cooperation with the Hollywood studios," stated Henry Hauser, Panasonic merchandising display group VP. "The debut of our VIERA GT25 Series of Full HD 3D TVs further expands our portfolio of 3D offerings and makes it even easier for consumers to join the immersive world of Full HD 3D for the home."

Key features in the GT25 series include IPTV functionality through the Viera Cast system, which includes USB connectivity, allowing for the addition of a wireless LAN adapter, keyboard and USB memory.

The system also include a range of online service partners including Amazon Video-on-Demand, Netflix, Google's YouTube, Picasa Web Album, Bloomberg, Pandora, Twitter and a weather service.

Other features include: Skype video calling.

Also included is Viera Link (HDMI-CEC) system interoperability, which allows Panasonic owners to control otherr Viera Link compatible audio and video products with one remote.

The sets also offer THX certification.
