Panasonic Outsources Distribution To Almo

Philadelphia — Panasonic has expanded its partnership with Almo, agreeing to outsource its distribution of consumer electronics products to the independent distributor in five more states: Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas.

According to a release, this latest expansion means that Almo is exclusively responsible for Panasonic’s CE distribution in a total of 27 states.

“In March of 2006, we chose to focus on our core competencies of manufacturing and branding excellence, and allowed our dealers to benefit from Almo’s core competency — distribution excellence,” said Ed Wolff, Panasonic’s distribution sales VP. “This model has been successful for the dealers, providing them with excellent delivery and service. Therefore, we’ve once again expanded our long-standing relationship with Almo.”

According to Almo, dealers in these newly added states will have Panasonic consumer electronic products available to them through its southern region distribution center, which will provide one- or two-day shipping service. The company says that dealers in this region can now benefit from an extensive dealer benefits package called the Almo Advantage which includes:

  • regional warehouse locations;
  • rapid delivery nationwide;
  • same-day order processing and shipping;
  • drop-ship capabilities;
  • extended floor plan terms up to six months;
  • online specs, inventory, pricing and ordering; and
  • a dedicated, experienced sales representative

Almo said in a release that most dealers have implemented a Just In Time (JIT) inventory strategy to reduce inventory and its associated costs. This inventory model is said to help retailers to minimize ordering/setup cost and holding costs while optimizing order quantity, lead time and number of deliveries.
