Secaucus, N.J. — Panasonic switched up the suggested retails on its new high-definition camcorders, the company said today.
The previously announced HDC-SD1 and DX1 will both retail for a suggested $1,299, down from $1,499 and $1,399, respectively, when the models were announced in December. Both models began shipping this month.
The camcorders are based on the AVCHD specification for recording 1,080i content to traditional DVDs, flash-memory cards and hard disk drives.
Panasonic’s SD1 records video to an SD card while the DX1 records to standard 8cm DVD discs.
