Panasonic Adds Lumix LF1 Compact Camera

Secaucus, N.J. – In addition to the DMC-G6 compact system camera, Panasonic introduced late Wednesday the Lumix LF1, which is a 12-megapixel CMOS sensor-based compact camera that captures RAW image files.

Panasonic’s Lumix LF1 ($500 street retail) compact point-and-shoot features a 7.1x optical zoom (28-200mm equivalent), and like the G6 also includes built-in Wi-Fi connectivity with nearfield communication (NFC) functionality that allows wireless sharing of images and videos with mobile devices by tapping the devices together.

The Wi-Fi capability will also enable an Instant Transfer function that allows the camera to automatically transfer photo data to the designated electronic devices whenever the shutter is released.

In playback mode, users can also touch the image displayed on the camera to transfer it directly to the smartphone/tablet right on the spot.

In addition, it is possible to tag the location information to the image by utilizing the GPS log of a smartphone/tablet.

All these flexible shooting/browsing/sharing styles are made possible with the LF1 and Panasonic’s dedicated application software Panasonic Image App for iOS/ Android smartphones/tablets.

The camera also features a 3-inch 920K-dot LCD monitor and a 200K-dot electronic viewfinder.
